Ready, Set, Charlotte

Hurricane Florence made landfall, bringing heavy wind, rain and water along the coast North Carolina. Its expected to reach Charlotte sometime tomorrow and they’re predicting that the effects will last through Monday. Even though the storm has been downgraded from Category 4 to Category 1, we’ve been advised to stay on high alert for flooding and power outages. We’re as prepared as we can be and are praying that we and everyone affected are safe.

This weekend, I plan to take advantage of the weather by catching up on some reading. I recently started You’re Not Lost: An Inspired Action Plan for Finding Your Own Way, the first of many books, I’m sure, by motivational speaker Maxie McCoy. I’m only a few pages in, but I’ve already gotten a healthy dose of the encouragement I didn’t know I needed to keep going. Often, I let myself believe that I’m the only person experiencing growing pains. It has been comforting to read about Maxie’s growing pains and receive her loving reassurance that we’ll make it to the other side and be better women for it.

What are your weekend plans? If you’re in Charlotte or any area affected by Hurricane Florence, please be safe!
