My weekends are a whirlwind of chores, errands, family time and whatever else I can fit into our schedule. Before I know it, I’m back in the office on Monday morning, struggling to answer my co-workers’ friendly, “so, how was your weekend?” That wasn’t the case this morning though! Today, I walked in the office prepared to share how much fun I had with my girlfriend at the Girl Tribe Pop Up on Saturday, complete with a camera roll full of adorable selfies. Would you believe the morning has come and almost gone without anyone asking about my weekend?
Of course that’s not going to stop me from making memories that I want to share. I enjoyed my afternoon out so much that in the midst of our fun, I declared to make spending time hanging out with friends and even by myself one of my New Year’s resolutions. I’ve always been a social butterfly and value my freedom above all. Maintaining my independence has been one of my biggest challenges since I moved to Charlotte and it’s only gotten harder since Avon and I moved in together. But I’ve spent too many Monday mornings regretting not taking time for myself over the weekend and feeling the effects of my negligence all week not to make a change. This may be one of my New Year’s resolutions, but I’m not waiting another minute to get started!
